Logan Sargeant Makes Comeback in IMSA’s LMP2 Class with PR1/Mathiasen
Aug 16th, 2025
Logan Sargeant, the former Williams F1 driver, is making a much-anticipated return to competitive motorsport with a two-race stint in the 2025 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. He’ll pilot the No. 52 Oreca 07 LMP2 prototype with PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports at Indianapolis and Petit Le Mans.
From F1 to Endurance Racing:
After parting ways with Williams mid-2024 and withdrawing from the ELMS program with IDEC Sport, Sargeant’s career had quietly paused—until now. Alongside joining Oliver Gavin Motorsport Management, this renewed opportunity signals a shift toward sports car racing.
Pro-Am Lineup at IMSA:
Sargeant will share driving duties with Benjamin Pedersen (Silver-rated) and Naveen Rao (Bronze-rated), reinforcing PR1/Mathiasen’s LMP2 entry for the season’s final endurance rounds—the six-hour race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway (September 21) and the ten-hour Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta (October 11).

Words from his future teammates:
Naveen Rao, Driver, No. 52 ORECA LMP2 07:
“While Road America didn’t quite go our way, we had a really great car. The Indianapolis road course demands a lot of precision and I’m excited to see what our car can do there. I’m also looking forward to working with our new teammate, Logan Sargeant! We should have a great line-up with Logan and Benjamin for a 6 hour race.”

Benjamin Pedersen, Driver, No. 52 ORECA LMP2 07:“I’m really excited for the last two rounds and to welcome Logan to the team! We’ve found a lot of speed in the car lately and our full focus for the last two rounds is 100% on getting a win.”
Quotes from Within the Paddock:
Team co-owner Bobby Oergel expressed optimism: “Myself and all the crew … are very excited that Logan is able to join us … I am sure Logan’s pace will be top-notch … The opportunity to do some testing ahead of the Indy event should do just that.”
A visibly enthusiastic Sargeant added: “I’m super excited to be jumping back into a car for the last two LMP2 races in IMSA … It’s a great opportunity to drive at two special tracks … I’m eager to contribute to a successful couple races for the team, and bring my knowledge … to everyone involved.”
What This Means
This return is not just a comeback—it's a statement. From his early success in karting and junior formulae to scoring points in F1, Sargeant's trajectory seemed halted. Now, stepping back into a professional arena, he has the chance to channel his talent into a fresh chapter of his racing career. PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports, with a storied LMP2 record—including multiple championship wins in recent seasons—offers a strong platform for his endurance debut.
