Formula 1 - Revival, Debate, and an Emotional Return:

Formula 1 had its share of headlines this week.  Max Verstappen dominated the Azerbaijan Grand Prix from start to finish. He took pole position, led all 51 laps, and set the fastest lap, securing a commanding “grand slam” victory. His championship rival, Oscar Piastri, crashed out on the opening lap — jumping the start and colliding with the barrier early, allowing Verstappen to seize full control of the race.

George Russell finished second for Mercedes, and Carlos Sainz grabbed a surprise third for Williams, earning their first full-distance podium since 2017. This result narrows Verstappen’s gap to Piastri to 69 points, reigniting his title hopes — with seven races left in the 2025 season.

Max Verstappen admitted that, earlier this season, he had doubts about Red Bull’s ability to recover its form. With momentum now back on his side, he described the team’s latest wins as “extra special,” marking a turning point in the championship fight.

One of the week’s most emotional stories came with the announcement that Romain Grosjean will test a Haas F1 car at Mugello, his first time back in the cockpit since his fiery 2020 crash. He’ll wear a helmet designed by his children, originally meant for what would have been his final F1 race.

The WEC is preparing to celebrate its 100th race this weekend at Fuji, a landmark moment in its 14-year history. But the focus isn’t only on heritage. Convergence, the potential unification of LMH and LMDh rules, is back in discussion, as organizers and manufacturers debate how to simplify the hypercar class and ensure long-term stability.

Porsche also highlighted its 20th year in endurance racing, reflecting on its role in shaping the modern WEC and celebrating successes across nearly a hundred races.

As the motorsport world heads into the weekend, the themes are clear: comebacks, crossroads, and celebration. Grosjean’s return at Mugello promises nostalgia and emotion. Fuji’s 100th WEC race could prove to be either a marker of continuity or the dawn of new technical rules. And with drivers and teams weighing their futures, the stage is set for high drama both on and off the track.
